The Right Tools For The Job

Relying on your existing knowledgebase can be dangerous to self growth. When a new project comes along, see it as an opportunity to add a new tool to your toolkit.

As a designer, I work on a huge variety of projects that range from digital to print, small to big, detailed to no-frills. When there’s an industry tool that I know is the one for the job, but I don’t know how to use it, that’s a perfect opportunity to slow down and to do it the right way, even if it takes an extra day to figure it out.

If you’re working for someone else, it might be wise to ask them if you could spend time looking into the tool - usually employers are excited to see their employees expand professionally. If yours isn’t, it might be time to start looking for a new job.
